Okay folks story time.
it all started when my big beast of a walker kind of bit the dust, it needs to go in for repairs and I decided that that it could wait until the new year.
I called my handyman friend who helps me out with stuff like this and asked him to replace a bolt in a smaller walker I bought second-hand, and seriously we just thought it would be replacing a bolt and off I go.
No.
It ended up being a multiple trips to different hardware stores and cannibalizing a wheel from the big walker just to see if we can keep me mobile.
When he was done I tried it out, and I said to him that it felt a little wobbly and he said nah, I think that's just you. Jerk. But he's not completely wrong. I go shopping after he leaves and everything is fine, then the next day, later in the day I go to the store again and I'm talking to him on the phone while I'm in the store and I'm telling him that this walker doesn't feel safe I think I should just go to Canadian Tire and get a new one but I didn't know how to get it home, he says to me head on over there and I'll meet you there and give you a ride home with it.
I do that but as I am crossing the street the wheel comes off the walker!
Not only does the wheel come off the bolt actually is sheared in half. I get to the other side with the help of a nice couple, and try to phone my handyman friend but he is on his way and not answering his cell phone. Then this nice man named Joel stops with his flat tire tool kit and tries to fix my wheel he even runs all the way to Canadian Tire and buys a new bolt.
He is able to fix it well enough for me to get to Canadian Tire I get there just in time to meet my friend we spend about an hour trying to find a new walker, the web site said they had 6 in stock. 3 different workers sent us to 3 parts of the store......
I finally went to costumer service and they got one from the warehouse for me. I am very thankful for good friends, kind strangers and of course I am very thankful to still be mobile.
